#009 - MARTIAN84
Welcome to our interview series, where we interview emerging creatives all over the globe!
Today, we will be interviewing MARTIAN84, an emerging electronic music DJ and producer who is influenced by dark melodic techno and orchestral music.
Let's dive into the questions we have prepared for MARTIAN84!
Hey, MARTIAN! We appreciate your interest in taking part in the FTWS interview series. How are you feeling today?
I’m doing good. How ‘bout you?
I'm doing well, thank you! Let's begin with our first question: Can you describe the steps you take to create a track? Do you begin with a melody, a rhythm, or a particular sound?
I usually start with a reference track. I got inspired a lot by the music I hear every day, and I try to learn as much as I can from the arrangement, sounds, melodies,..
Numerous electronic musicians create a distinctive sound. What would you say about yours, and what was the process like?
I like the dark colour of melodic techno and also orchestral music. I want my music to sound aggressive at festivals, but I also want to make it sound dreamy like all melodic music.
The landscape of electronic music is always changing. How do you preserve your artistic integrity while staying on top of trends?
Well, I'm just getting started, so my first track, You Were My Ghost, is coming out, and I’ll try to produce and make mixsets regularly. Hope I can get signed to big labels. And just enjoy the journey.

What has been the most difficult obstacle you have faced in your music life thus far, and how did you resolve it?
I think it is producing. Well, at first it might be overwhelming. Well, it is still overwhelming. There is a lot to learn, so I just try to improve myself every day and learn from everyone. I’m collaborating with Kevin - NPCgroove right now, so I also learn a lot from him.
Does your production style draw inspiration from artists or genres beyond electronic music, and have you worked with artists from diverse backgrounds?
Yes, every music I have heard inspires me in some way. Right now it is Anyma, Kream,... but I listen to almost everything. Like Lo-Fi, Orchestral, Disco, Reggaeton, Vinahouse,... It is so random, but any genre inspires me in some way.
The demands of the music industry can be high. How do you strike a good balance between your personal well-being, creativity and performance?
I just focus on improving myself every day. What comes will come.
That concludes our interview with you. Thank you so much for participating! Would you like to share any new music or plans over the next few months?
I have new songs coming soon. My debut song: You Were My Ghost will be released at the end of the month. Thanks for having me, I appreciate it. I love what you're doing, man, I'm watching your journey too. Keep it up.
